How to Treat Dry Sensitive Acne Prone Skin

Updated: Sep 24, 2022

Every person has their own skin type. This might be because of heredity or due to some uncontrollable factors on the environment. Whether we like it or not, we encounter toxins and pollution because of our environment.

However, the skincare products that we can see in the market have their own designated treatments for every skin type. Some are effective, some are not. Trial and errors are being done to test which can fit our skin without experiencing any irritation and see its changes and effectiveness.

Given these valuable reasons, here are some of the ways on how to treat dry, sensitive and acne prone skin:

1. Drink Water

Water is the most substantial form of liquid in our life. Dullness and dryness of the skin might be because of the lack of water inside our body. Eight glasses of water can be hard to maintain but if you can succeed in making it a habit, you can clearly see positive changes not just on your skin but also on your body.

2. Use an oil-free moisturizer

If something is dry, it needs to be moisturized. Applying moisturizer is an ideal method to keep your skin hydrated and avoid the greasy feeling. Consider choosing a moisturizer that doesn’t feel heavy when you apply it on your face when searching for one.

3. Use a gentle cleanser

Most anti-acne products tend to make the skin dry. You have to be careful in choosing a cleanser that can help control acne problems but also not make your skin dry. Gentle cleanser is a mild care for the skin which is perfect if you are having trouble with dry and sensitive skin.

4. Don’t wash your face too often

Washing your face can help remove dirt, oils and bacteria from your skin but going overboard will only cause you to strip off the natural oils that your skin produces. Why is this a bad thing? Oils that the skin naturally produces aren’t really harmful. In fact, it’s the one that keeps your skin moisturized. Over-washing your face can lead to preventing the natural oils from your face to protect you from dirt, bacteria and other harmful external irritants. Your skin might feel too tight, dry and irritated because of this.

A gentle wash in the morning and evening is enough. No need to wash it every now and then, all throughout the day, as it might only cause you more harm than good.

5. Use fragrance-free products

Fragrance-free products are perfect if you have dry and sensitive skin. The reason behind this is that fragrance-free products do not contain harmful elements unlike the scented ones. Most fragrance-free products are alcohol-free too. Using alcohol free products will lessen the risk of making your skin dry.

Investing with healthy skin care and lifestyle can be a game changer.
